What are the Benefits of Massage?
According to the Mayo Clinic, studies show that massage is an effective treatment for reducing stress and pain, as well as relieve muscle tension. Massage has also been proven to help heal injured muscles and speed recovery.
Specifically, massage therapy can help with:
- Anxiety
- Digestive disorders
- Fibromyalgia
- Headaches
- Insomnia related to stress
- Myofascial pain syndrome
- Soft tissue strains or injuries
- Sports injuries
How Often Should You Get a Massage?
You should get a massage every 4-6 weeks for stress relief, a basic body tune-up, or to treat yourself.
The frequency depends on your budget and needs, along with how you use your body. For example, massages for injury or chronic pain are typically scheduled more frequently, usually weekly or bimonthly.

What is a Licensed Massage Therapist?
Massage therapists go to school to learn how to manipulate the soft-tissue muscles of the body to relieve soreness, improve circulation, rehabilitate injuries, reduce stress and increase relaxation.
Massage therapy programs require between 6-12 months of classroom study and hands-on practice. Texas is one of 43 states, along with the District of Columbia, that regulate massage therapists and require a license.
What Should I Wear during a Full-Body Massage?
What you wear is completely up to you. During a massage, many spa guests choose to undress completely, while some choose to leave on their underwear.
Before your massage, your massage therapist will exit the room for you to undress and get comfortable under the covers on the massage table. During your treatment, your massage therapist will use a draping technique with the sheet to cover your body, except for the body part being worked on.
Minors Policy:
Guests under the age of 17 are required to wear a bathing suit or undergarments while receiving a massage.
Will I Be Sore after My Massage?
Massage therapy releases lactic acid from the muscles, which can cause a little temporary muscle soreness. The lactic acid crystallizes in your muscles after being worked out.
That’s why it is important to drink plenty of water following a massage. You need to help hydrate the tissue and flush the toxins that are being released in your body.

Yes, you can choose either a talented male or female massage therapist for your treatment at all five Austin, Round Rock, and Dallas Viva Day Spa + Med Spa locations.
