What Does a VI Peel Do?

A VI Peel penetrates to the deeper layers of your skin to address issues like skin discoloration, scaring and wrinkles.

Like most chemical peels, VI Peels use a synergistic blend of acids and nutrients that penetrate the skin’s surface to accelerate cell turnover. As damaged surface cells shed over the following week, newer, healthier skin is revealed underneath.

Below the surface, the peel supports collagen and elastin production and helps suppress excess pigment production — which is why it’s effective on melasma and acne scarring, not just surface dullness.

Your provider applies the solution in a series of layers, adjusting depth based on your skin and your goals.

VI Peel Advanced

The VI Peel Purify with Precision + Peptides is the most innovative formulation and helps to erase scars and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) caused by acne breakouts, now powered by Smart Peptide Technology to prevent pigment formation at its source.

To ensure safe, effective results, please postpone your skincare appointment if you are experiencing any active infections such as cold sores, pink eye, styes, or shingles, or if you have visible symptoms of HPV on the face. Our estheticians can only provide treatment once all symptoms have fully resolved.

Viva Day Spa + Med Spa will not perform Chemical Peels on pregnant women.

Please discontinue use of Accutane 12 months prior to treatment and Retin A, Avage, Tazorac, Differin, or any other medication that may compromise the skin 7 days prior to treatment.

Some peels also cannot be performed on people who have recently had laser treatments, waxing, plastic surgery, or a sunburn. Consult with your medical esthetician for more information.

As the first layer is applied, most guests feel mild tingling or warmth. That sensation dissipates with each additional layer as the solution begins to numb the skin.

Your provider checks your comfort level between layers and adjusts accordingly. Most guests describe it as very manageable. The full treatment takes about 30 minutes.

Skin feels tight and may look slightly bronzed for the first day or two. Peeling is most visible on days three through five, then resolves by day six or seven.

For special events, we recommend at least two weeks between your treatment and the date — this is not a same-week-as-your-wedding treatment.

Your at-home care over the following seven days is an essential part of the treatment, not an optional add-on. You’ll go home with the VI Peel At-Home System and a walk-through of how to use it.

• Apply SPF 50+ daily and avoid sun exposure throughout the exfoliation process
• No tanning beds before or after treatment
• Avoid excessive sweating for 72–96 hours — no exercise, sauna, hot tub, or steam room. Overheating during this window can cause blistering or worsen pigmentation
• Let skin peel on its own; don’t pull or pick
• Hold off on other chemical peels, microneedling, and laser or IPL treatments until your provider clears you

If you have active acne, the peel may temporarily draw oil and bacteria to the surface and trigger a breakout. Your provider will tell you what to expect for your skin.

One VI Peel treatment delivers a visible refresh. To correct a specific concern, a series of three is recommend. For a more comprehensive change in skin vitality, four to six treatments works best, along with ongoing maintenance.

Results aren’t determined by how dramatically you peel — even when visible peeling is light, the treatment continues working below the surface on collagen production and pigmentation.

Yes. The VI Peel is formulated for all skin types and Fitzpatrick tones, including deeper skin tones that aren’t candidates for some other resurfacing treatments.

It isn’t recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for guests with an aspirin or phenol allergy, recent isotretinoin (Accutane) use, active cold sores, or certain autoimmune and liver conditions. Your provider will review your full health history at your consultation.
