What Is A Licensed Massage Therapist?

Massage therapists go to school to learn how to manipulate the soft-tissue muscles of the body to relieve soreness, improve circulation, rehabilitate injuries, reduce stress and increase relaxation. Massage therapy programs require between 6-12 months of classroom study and hands-on practice. Texas is one of 43 states, along with the District of Columbia, that regulate massage therapists and require a license.

What Should I Wear During A Full-Body Massage?

What you wear is completely up to you. During a massage, many spa guests choose to undress completely, while some choose to leave on their underwear. Before your massage, your massage therapist will exit the room for you to undress and get comfortable under the covers on the massage table. During your treatment, your massage therapist will use a draping technique with the sheet to cover your body, except for the body part being worked on.

Minors Policy:
Guests under the age of 17 are required to wear a bathing suit or under garments while receiving a massage.

Will I Be Sore After My Massage?

Massage therapy releases lactic acid from the muscles, which can cause a little temporary muscle soreness. The lactic acid crystallizes in your muscles after being worked out. That’s why it is important to drink plenty of water following a massage. You need to help hydrate the tissue and flush the toxins that are being released in your body.

Can I Choose A Male Or Female Massage Therapist?

Yes, you can choose either a talented male or female massage therapist for your treatment at Viva Day Spa. Please let us know your preference when you schedule your Austin massage treatment by phone. You can also select the gender of your massage therapist book an appointment online.
