What Does A Botox Injection Feel Like?
Your aesthetic injector will inject Botox with an ultra-fine needle directly into the muscles of the treatment area. Any discomfort at the treatment site should be very minimal, patients typically rate the pain a 2 out of 10. A small bump and minimal stinging may appear where the injection occurs, but that will quickly fade.
A few minutes after your appointment, your face will look nearly identical to how it looked when you walked into Viva (unless you have very sensitive skin that retains redness easily). Typically, you can return back to work or normal activity immediately post-treatment.
What Is Masseter Botox?
Botox can be effectively used to reduce jaw clenching or TMJ. This treatment is often referred to as Masseter Botox, “teeth-grinding injections” or “jaw Botox.” The masseter muscle is a large, rectangular facial muscle that connects your lower jaw to your cheek bone and is the main muscle for chewing. Injecting Botox into the this muscle blocks nerve cells to help relax the muscle. Masseter Muscle Botox is also popular non-surgical treatment to help reduce the width and shape of a square jawline — known as jawline slimming or facial slimming.
How Long Does Botox Last?
Botox typically lasts 3-4 months after treatment.
How Often Will I Need Botox Injections?
Our bodies metabolize the Botox injections at different rates, so the answer is slightly different for every individual. Desired outcome, frequency of use, muscle mass, number of units injected and age help determine the ideal treatment protocol.
For optimal results, most patients will need Botox injections at regular intervals every 3-4 months.
How Will I Feel After My Botox Treatment?
Immediately after your treatment, it’s common to feel minimal soreness and stinging. Some people experience temporary side effects like a mild headache on the treatment day and the day after. Most people experience no side effects at all and return back to work or their daily activities immediately post-treatment.
After the botulism toxin begins to work (within a week of treatment), it is very common to feel slight heaviness or pressure in the treated area.
What Is A Unit of Botox?
A Botox unit is a volume measurement of medicine. This unit of measurement is used to determine how much Botox to inject into each treatment area. Botox comes in 100 unit vials. Patients typically require 15-20 units for the vertical Glabellar lines, or “elevens” between the eyes, 15-20 units for the forehead, and around 25 units per eye for crow’s feet or wrinkles on the sides of the eyes.
What Age Should I Start Preventative Botox?
It’s recommended to start preventative Botox in your 20s or 30s. Botox is widely used as a preventative measure to keep facial wrinkles from forming. With time, aging will deepen the lines and wrinkles on your face. For more information, read our blog post “Preventative Botox in your 20s and 30s“.
The minimum age to receive Botox treatments at Viva Day Spa + Med Spa is eighteen (18).
What Is The Difference Between Botox And Dysport?
Botox and Dysport are both neuromodulators with similar benefits and outcomes. Their formulas are different, which means one might be more effective for some treatment areas than the other — and visa versa.

What and How Much Is a Botox Lip Flip?

A lip flip is a treatment that uses a small dose of Botox to relax muscles above the upper lip which causes the upper lip to curl (or flip) upward and create the appearance of naturally fuller lips.
How Long Does A Lip Flip Last?
A lip flip typically lasts 4-6 weeks. The results wear off more quickly because the lips are actively used for making expressions, eating, etc.
Lip Flip vs. Lip Filler
Lip filler uses hyaluronic acid (HA) filler to add volume to lips, making them look plumper. It also helps with shape, definition and can help smooth the lines that develop as we age. Results are immediate with lip filler and can last up to a year. At Viva Day Spa + Med Spa, lip filler costs $700. It’s less than a full year of lip flips if you came in every 6 weeks. ($850 = 8.5 visits x $100).
Is Botox FDA-Approved?
Botox has been FDA approved since 2002 to treat frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines.
