Starting Your Treatment

Your service provider will apply a cooling gel on your treatment area and provide protective eyewear for the both of you. They will then get started with a few tests of the laser to gauge your level of comfort. The laser can feel like a small pinch, or a rubber band snapping. Once your tolerance is determined, they will begin performing the laser treatment on the entire treatment area. The typical treatment time is 30 minutes.

Wrapping Up

After your treatment is complete, your service provider will offer you wipes to remove the gel and step out so that you can re-dress if needed. They will then go through the laser hair removal after care instructions. How Hair Color Affects Results

You will achieve fantastic results with laser hair removal if you have brown or black hair on your face or body. The Triton laser system is less effective if the skin and hair color are too similar. Why? The hair follicle needs pigmentation for the laser to effectively target it. Therefore, blonde and red hair are more resistant. White and grey hair will not respond to laser hair removal.

What Does Laser Hair Removal Feel Like?

There may be very mild discomfort. Most people will feel a slight tingling or stinging sensation when the light pulses are emitted — similar to a rubber band snapping against your skin. Some areas of the body are also more sensitive than others.

What Should I Expect After My Treatment?

Slight redness and swelling will occur (a condition called folliculitis), which usually dissipates in a few hours. The treated hair will fall out anytime from 3–14 days after your laser hair removal session, leaving you with smooth hair-free skin until your next growth cycle.

After each additional session, you’ll realize a reduction in the number of hairs in the treated area, with the hair becoming finer and lighter.

How To Prepare for Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal requires a little preparation to get the best results from your treatments. Here are the things to do before your hair removal sessions begin:

  1. Stop Waxing, Plucking & Bleaching: Do not wax or tweeze hairs 4–6 weeks before your treatment. The hair must be present — a very short stubble — with its natural hair color to be treated effectively.

What Is the Minimum Age for Laser Hair Removal?

The minimum age for laser hair removal treatments at Viva is 17 years old, and parental consent is required. Our laser professionals strongly advise that patients wait until after puberty before starting laser hair removal treatments because the body goes through hormonal changes that can cause regrowth.

How Long Do Laser Hair Removal Results Last?

Laser hair removal heats up the hair follicles to prevent new hairs from growing. The hair follicles enter a state of dormancy for a much longer time — significantly longer than with shaving and waxing.
