Our Q-Switch Laser emits a pulse of light energy that passes through the top layers of the skin and is absorbed by the tattoo ink. This energy quickly heats up, shattering the ink into tiny particles without damaging surrounding skin.

Your body eliminates the ink through its natural processes, resulting in an incremental lightening of the tattoo.

Laser removal treatments work for all types of tattoos, on all parts of the body. We do not, however, perform this treatment on tattoos inked with non-professional product like permanent makeup and amateur tattoos.

Most people equate it to the same sensation they felt when originally got their tattoo — so it depends on your pain tolerance. Some people describe the removal process as feeling like a rubber band repeatedly snapping your skin.

After your treatment, your Viva Day Spa laser specialist will provide you with an aftercare plan. In general, we advise our guests to:

• Take it easy for approximately 24 hours
• Keep the lasered area elevated, if possible
• Use only the products we recommend for dry, itchy or flaky skin
• Avoid scratching any blisters or scabs
• Avoid sun exposure and use a strong sunscreen (SPF30+) on the area
• Avoid swimming until the area is completely healed
• Try not to overheat your skin for 24 hours — no exercise or hot showers
• Avoid long soaks in water of any kind until the area has completely healed
• Do not apply make-up to the treated area

You may experience some redness, swelling and blistering around the treated area. These side effects are temporary, and your skin should heal completely within one to two weeks. You should be able to resume daily activities immediately.

Scarring is always possible, but is extremely rare. If treated by one of our expert laser technicians utilizing our state-of-the-art technology, you should not be left with any scars after your laser tattoo removal treatments.
