PRP injections are innovative hair and skin treatments that use your body’s own healing agents to address hair loss and visible signs of aging like skin texture, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation and under-eye circles. Otherwise known as platelet-rich plasma, PRP therapy has long been employed by the medical field to promote healing. When used cosmetically, the same technique allows your body to regenerate the healthy cells and collagen needed to rejuvenate skin and spur hair growth.

PRP Injections
What Are PRP Injections?
PRP Injections, also known as platelet-rich plasma injections, are cell rejuvenation therapies that jumpstart your body’s reparative mechanisms. These injections contain a solution of concentrated blood platelets and plasma derived from the recipient’s own body.
Platelets are tiny fragments of cells responsible for blood clotting during injury. This therapy harnesses the power of platelets to encourage your body to release growth factors and generate new, healthy cells at the treatment site.
After collecting and separating platelets and plasma from other blood cell material, these important components are then injected into the target area using a Microneedling device or syringe, depending on the treatment area. This spurs the production of growth factors to produce healthy skin cells.
How Does PRP Work?
PRP treatments use the same technology doctors have employed to address medical issues for decades. A blood sample is taken by a licensed medical professional then placed in a centrifuge to draw out platelets and plasma in the blood.
Med spa staff then extract a concentrated volume of platelets and plasma and inject them back into the body at the target site using a syringe or Microneedling device.
Afterward, the platelets release growth factors and proteins responsible for tissue regeneration and collagen production. These new, healthy cells help to add volume and elasticity to the skin or promote hair growth, depending on the type of treatment you need.
What Issues Does PRP Address?
PRP injections are used to treat a variety of skin and hair concerns. At Viva Day Spa + Med Spa, we currently offer the following treatments:
- PRP Hair Treatment: Targets the scalp to promote hair growth and thickness. This technique provides a non-invasive option for clients experiencing hair loss or thinning.
- PRP for Under Eyes: An under-eye treatment that addresses under-eye dark circles and weakened skin integrity. These injections reinvigorate the delicate tissue around the eyes, adding volume and reducing the visibility of veins that cause dark circles.
While not an injection, Viva also offers Microneedling with PRP. This cutting-edge treatment combines the rejuvenating power of Microneedling with the healing and regenerative properties of platelet-rich plasma to stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and address multiple skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation.
How Much Does PRP Cost?
The cost of PRP injections vary from $750 to $800 per treatment at Viva, depending on which area is being treated. We offer discounted series sessions to for enhanced results. Our experienced med spa staff will evaluate your medical history and desired results to determine the number of treatments you need to meet your goals.

What to Expect From a PRP Treatment
First, you’ll have a consultation with one of our nurse practitioners or physician’s assistants. They’ll work with you to create a treatment plan outlining the length and recommended injections required to see the improvement you want.
During the procedure, they’ll draw a small blood sample from your arm. This sample is placed into a centrifuge to separate the platelets and plasma from other cellular components in the blood. The blood draw may cause minimal discomfort, but this is very mild and temporary, similar to a blood draw at your doctor’s office.
Med spa staff prepare a solution of platelets and plasma and inject it at the treatment site, either using a microneedling device for face, neck, and/or chest, or using a syringe for under the eye or at the scalp.
A med spa staff member will give you post-treatment guidance and help you set up followup visits for additional injections.
After that, you’re free to return to your usual activities, although you should avoid strenuous activity and sun exposure immediately after your treatment.
When Will I See Results?
Results depend on the type of treatment you receive:
PRP Treatments for Hair Restoration
Most clients notice results within a few months, with continued improvements as time progresses. These treatments typically require regular appointments to maintain results.
PRP Treatments for Under Eyes
These treatments provide gradual improvements to the area which become noticeable a few weeks to a few months after initial treatment. Clients usually need additional maintenance appointments after this.
Microneedling with PRP
Results are typically visible within 1-2 weeks after the first treatment. Full results develop over a few months as collagen production increases. The effects can last up to 12-18 months, depending on skin condition and maintenance.
PRP FAQs
Who Performs PRP Treatments at Viva Day Spa + Med Spa?
Our experienced nurse practitioners and physician’s assistants perform all PRP injections, overseen by Medical Director Aisha White, MD, a board-certified plastic surgeon.
What Is PRP Therapy?
PRP therapy, or platelet-rich plasma therapy, is a broader name for the process of separating blood platelets and plasma and reinjecting them to stimulate and promote cell regeneration in target areas of the body.
What’s the difference between PRF and PRP?
Both PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) and PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapies are regenerative techniques that activate the body’s healing processes using growth-promoting properties in the blood.
In PRP treatments, a blood sample is spun in a centrifuge at a high speed to separate platelets and plasma from other material. PRF therapy uses a lower speed, allowing some of the white blood cells and fibrin contained in the blood to be separated along with platelets and plasma.
PRP injections contain a lower concentration of platelets than PRF, which makes them a better choice for fine lines, such as those in the skin around the eye. Some studies have also shown PRP therapy to be more effective for hair growth.
How Long Does It Take PRP Treatments to Work?
Clients may start to notice results for facial treatments in just a few weeks after the initial treatment. Most see noticeable improvements in a few months. Hair restoration takes a few months to exhibit results.
How Long Do PRP Treatments Last?
Results can last up to 12 to 18 months, depending on individual response and lifestyle factors. Results can be maintained with additional treatments every six to twelve months as needed.
Is PRP Painful?
These treatments are minimally invasive. Some clients experience slight discomfort during the initial blood draw and injection. Your treatment provider may use numbing cream or topical anesthesia during the procedure to minimize pain.
